BANGLADESH CHILD MARRIAGE STORIES
NOTHING BUT SIXTEEN
I’m 16 only and a mother of a 3-year-old daughter When I was just 11, my parents arranged my marriage, immediately I had to say goodbye to my friends and classmates. Two years later, I gave birth to a baby. While my peers were coping with academic pressure, I was struggling with the pressure of parenting and learning to be a mother. I am 16 years old, the burden of early pregnancy dealt a severe blow to my body and mind, leaving me sick and unwell. |

I’m 16 only and about to graduate from high school I’ve joined Plan International scholarship programme, it’s not just an immediate financial assistance to my family, but also a blessing to allow me to continue my study and not to be married off before 18 . Through regular sex education and continuous advocacy, the community would understand the disastrous effects of child marriage and rescue girls and daughters from their fate. |
